Ken and Brenda Reed Support Kentucky FFA as Blue & Gold Legacy Donors

When Ken Reed was 15 years old, his ag teacher co-signed on a $17,500 loan so he could buy cattle. To put that in perspective, that would be a loan for more than $185,000 today.

Reed bought the cattle, paid back the loan, and never forgot the support Mr. C.O. Neel showed him as a student. Because of the way Mr. Neel supported him, Ken and his wife, Brenda, have made it part of their life’s work to support agriculture programs and FFA in Kentucky.

Former Hopkinsville FFA Members Create Endowment to Support Local Agricultural Education Programs

There is a long list of successful Hopkinsville High School graduates who credit their agriculture teacher, Mr. Earl Webb, for having a tremendous influence on them in high school.

“We had an excellent vocational agriculture/FFA advisor,” said Terry Ashby, who graduated in 1975. “He had a very positive influence on several of us in Hopkinsville and Christian County. Because of that positive impact I wanted to do something in appreciation and recognition of him and other FFA advisors.”

Mr. Arthur Green Makes Forever Blue Gift

Arthur Green has been everybody’s ag teacher, or at least that’s what people in Todd County like to say. Considering he taught high school agriculture in Todd County for the 33 years between 1973 and 2006, it’s probably pretty close to true.

Green’s influence on generations of community members as a teacher, an active member of his church, the county judge executive, and now as the mayor of Elkton, is evidence of his life philosophy of service to others.
